Born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad in 1959. In 1984 after
hesitating between the United States and England,
Kenneth Alfred moved to France to pursue his art
education and immerse himself in European culture.
He obtained a French government scholarship and enrolled
at the Ecole National Supérieure des beaux-arts
in Paris, National Academy of Fine Arts. He dedicated
himself to painting, drawing and to print-making,
his works are acquired as early as 1998 by The Albertina in Vienna
and the Neue Galerie in Linz, Austria.
In 1990 after graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts he was
admitted to the French Academy in Rome
and spent a year at the Villa Medicis.
In 1994 he wins the Lacourière printmaking prize. His
works are acquired by The Museum for Drawing and
Original Prints, Gravelines, France, the National
Library, Paris, the National Fund for Contemporary Art,
among other collections both public and private.
Added to his activity in drawing and painting, for more than ten years he has been investigating the
potential of the association of new techniques of reproduction
with traditional print-making techniques.
This has lead to a questioning of the presentation as
well as the surfaces used in printed works.
